Windswept Ninth

Watercolour on Arches hot pressed (smooth), with a Gesso ground.

Almost full size this painting illustrates my attempt to balance hard and soft edges within the limitations of watercolour, it's never easy.

Painting wet into wet and achieving misty soft edges all over the place at first glance looks nice, tired maybe but nice, however with the addition of a little good        draughtsmanship creating those edges, interest in the work is greatly increased, I believe this also applies to over rubbing on soft pastels.
